Effect House is TikTok's official AR creation platform, empowering millions of global creators to design and publish interactive effects. We are now reimagining the entire effects creation workflow with AI and LLMs. Our goal is to make building AR effects as intuitive and conversational as coding with tools like Cursor or Copilot-where creators can simply describe their ideas, and AI assists with scene setup, effect generation, and iterative refinement. You will be responsible for crafting the technology that enables intuitive effect development and design. From advanced interactions to visual scripting, you'll build the tools our creators need to experiment and make engaging, immersive, and innovative effects, bringing creativity to (augmented) reality! You will focus on building a unified algorithm system that delivers numerous cutting-edge AR algorithms to various TikTok products. Our AR Effect Platform enables the breakthrough AR interactive experience, consumed by hundreds of millions of TikTok users around the world. Responsibilities: - Design and implement new effect capability features on Mobile end. - Define the future direction of our editing tools core technology, creation workflows and pipelines. - Support our fast growing effect creator community and internal effect production team to achieve their creative vision. - Support the operation team on ecosystem governance and promotion activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field with 3+ years in software development experience - Past experience working on Android or IOS, mastering at least one technical stack (Kotlin/Java or Swift/Objective-C); - Familiar with AI-coding tools and workflows, capable of boosting R&D efficiency using Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot and other tools, with hands-on experience in AI-native development paradigms. - Excellent system design skills, and UI/UX product design sense. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working on AR/VR projects,Web Technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, nodeJS). - Familiar with graphics APIs (OpenGL, WebGL, DirectX, Metal, or Vulkan) and GPU architectures. - Experience creating developer-facing APIs or libraries. - Experience navigating in a cross-functional environment. - Have good product sense, passionate about great user experiences.

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $254400 - $480000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
