Tax Insurance Claims Lawyer - VP

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help facilitate advantageous outcomes for clients with respect to tax insurance claims. The individual filling this position will step into a newly created role, working alongside Aon Transaction Solution colleagues and claims associates to facilitate the resolution of complex tax insurance claims on behalf of private equity and corporate clients. This position offers the opportunity to move into a coveted role in an evolving industry, where claims are an important focus for clients. Candidates should possess the ability to interact with and advise senior business, financial and legal professionals as they evaluate claims associated with complex, high-stakes and bespoke tax issues. Candidate must have a strong academic record, excellent oral communication skills, leadership skills and the ability to work independently with clients and colleagues. In addition, the candidate must be a proven self-starter willing to take on a good deal of responsibility with the ability to problem solve and advise clients involved in complex claim situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and strategize with clients and Aon's broking team about policy coverage and claims
  • Oversee filing of claim notices
  • Facilitate the tax insurance claim process including reviewing insurer coverage positions and discussing claim strategy with clients
  • Engage in claim advocacy and negotiating resolutions where appropriate
  • Assist with the collection and review of tax insurance claims data
  • Help to produce thought leadership publications including a market leading claim study
  • Participate in public speaking engagements, clients and prospect meetings and industry conferences


You Bring Knowledge and Expertise:

  • 4+ years experience in tax controversy matters, either at a law firm or government role, with comprehensive experience in resolving tax claims at federal and state levels
  • Exceptional legal, analytical and negotiating skills
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and producing quality deliverables
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex problems and issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills to clients and at industry events
  • Team player who takes initiative, is resourceful and is self-motivated

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position intended for U.S. applicants is $242,000 to $315,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
