Salary Range: $86,000.00 to $107,000.00

The Role

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an experienced and skilled recruiter to join our team to support hiring for salaried professional positions. This position will be responsible for recruiting prospective employees, while selecting and hiring top talent in the industry. This position acts as a central point of contact to our applicants and hiring managers on matters related to the full-cycle talent acquisition process. The environment is very fast paced, so the ability to multi-task will be important as you review applications, conduct interviews, extend formal job offers, work with outside agencies and vendors, attend hiring events and career fairs, etc. We frequently partner with the business on tactical and strategic talent planning and we are the driving force for matching candidate skills with critical positions. Conducts interviews to recruit prospective employees and refers job applicants to specific job openings. Evaluates employment factors such as job experience, education and training, skills, knowledge and abilities, physical and personal qualifications, and other data pertinent to classification, selection, and referral. Prepares rating on applicants, makes recommendations on starting salaries, and provides applicants with information on the company. May administer tests and interpret results, check references, arrange transportation of selected applicants, extend formal job offers, work with outside agencies and vendors, etc.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience


Nice to Have

Experience with recruiting engineers and other technical professional positions is preferred.
