Superintendent - Tailings Governance & Engineering Arizona, USA Excellent Base Salary + Up to 20% Bonus + Relocation 4-Day Working Week CSG Talent is working with a major copper mining operation in Arizona to recruit a Superintendent - Tailings Governance & Engineering . This is a senior site-based position with responsibility for the governance, engineering integration and performance assurance of large-scale Tailings Storage Facilities. The role would suit an experienced tailings professional who enjoys being close to an operating asset but wants to remain focused on technical leadership, governance, planning and assurance rather than directly managing day-to-day field execution . Youll work closely with the Engineer of Record, Tailings Operations, Water Management and site technical teams to ensure deposition, construction and facility performance remain aligned with design intent and the sites Tailings Management System. The Role Responsibilities will include: Leading implementation and governance of the Tailings Management System Developing short, medium and long-term tailings deposition strategies Acting as a key site interface with the Engineer of Record Ensuring EOR recommendations and design intent are incorporated into site plans Overseeing QA/QC associated with TSF construction and deposition Monitoring TSF performance against design assumptions Supporting dam safety inspections, surveillance and instrumentation programmes Managing tailings-related risk and critical controls Integrating tailings deposition with site-wide water balance and reclaim requirements Supporting Management of Change processes Providing technical guidance to Tailings & Water Operations Leading and developing engineers and technical professionals Supporting governance reporting, audits and independent technical reviews Were looking for someone with broad experience across tailings engineering, construction and operational management . Ideally youll bring: 10+ years of experience in tailings, geotechnical engineering or associated mining operations Strong understanding of TSF design, construction and operation Tailings deposition planning experience Experience working with an Engineer of Record Tailings governance / Tailings Management System experience GISTM knowledge and experience Dam safety, monitoring and surveillance experience QA/QC or CQA exposure Understanding of mine water balance, reclaim and pond management Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills Experience working in mining or a similarly complex heavy industrial environment Experience within copper mining would be particularly relevant, although strong candidates from other large-scale mining operations will be considered. This is an opportunity to take a senior technical leadership position within a substantial operating mine while remaining closely involved with the engineering and long-term development of its tailings facilities.
