Senior Highway / Roadway Engineer Location: Connecticut / Massachusetts / New Hampshire Hybrid Overview A well-established engineering consultancy is looking to add an experienced Highway/Roadway Engineer to its growing transportation team across the North East. This position is suited to a PE who wants to remain technically involved in roadway design while taking greater ownership of project delivery, mentoring engineers and progressing toward Project Management or senior technical leadership. You will work on a range of state and local transportation projects, supporting projects from early-stage design through final plans, specifications and estimates. Responsibilities Lead the technical delivery of highway and roadway design projects. Develop and review roadway alignments, plans, specifications and cost estimates. Manage technical tasks to ensure projects are delivered to the required quality, schedule and budget. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Work closely with Project Managers and senior technical leaders on complex transportation projects. Review designs for compliance with applicable state, federal and local standards. Support site visits, field investigations and constructability reviews. Assist with project scopes, proposals and task-order development. Sign and seal engineering documents where required. Remain hands-on with roadway design while gradually taking on greater project and team leadership responsibility.
