This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
About the Role
Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Level 4 Systems Integration Engineer to join our Lunar Permanence team. In this pivotal role, you will define and optimize integrated architectures across multiple program elements and vehicles to enable sustained lunar presence. You will lead architectural trade studies, establish cross-system interfaces, and develop holistic technical solutions that optimize performance, reliability, and compatibility across the entire mission architecture. Your architectural leadership will directly shape how our systems work together to achieve mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of integrated system architectures across multiple vehicles and systems within the Lunar Permanence program
- Establish architectural frameworks that optimize performance and operational effectiveness across program elements
- Define and manage critical interfaces between major system elements, ensuring seamless integration
- Lead architectural trade studies to evaluate system-level alternatives and recommend optimal solutions
- Develop and maintain technical budgets across vehicle boundaries to ensure balanced system performance
- Identify architectural risks and develop mitigation strategies spanning multiple systems
- Create and maintain architectural models and documentation that clearly communicate complex system relationships
- Collaborate with program leadership to align architectural decisions with program objectives and constraints
- Mentor engineering teams on architectural principles and system integration approaches
- Drive technical consensus across functional teams on architectural decisions
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in complex systems engineering roles within aerospace, defense, or similar industries
- Demonstrated experience developing integrated architectures for complex technical systems
- Experience leading technical teams through architectural decision-making processes
- Strong analytical background with experience applying quantitative methods to architectural decisions
- Proven ability to optimize designs across multiple interacting systems
- Excellence in technical communication of complex architectural concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CREO Parametric and able to manipulate and interrogate models to inform decisions and trades
- Familiarity with GD&T and Interface Control Models
- Experience with creation of Interface Control Documents
- Experience with requirement definition and verification using Jama Connect
- Experience in an area of analysis (performance, structural, thermal, GN&C, or related disciplines)
- Experience with human spaceflight systems and requirements or launch vehicle systems
- Experience with NASA systems engineering processes
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
