THE WORK
Lockheed Martin's SBIRS team is seeking a quick learning and highly skilled level 2 Systems Engineer - SE/SSTA in PCA work from our Sunnyvale, CA. location. Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
The Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO) and Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO) constellations utilize the Pointing and Control (PCA) subsystem to provide control and knowledge of the Payload sensor's Line-of-Sight (LOS) direction. The PCA consists of the Gyro Reference Assembly (GRA), the two-axis gimbals, the Motor Drive Electronics (MDE), and the Line-of-Sight Computer (LOSC).
The PCA Technical Analyst (TA) is considered the day-to-day subject matter expert on the Pointing and Control Assembly along with its associated hardware and is therefore expected to acquire in-depth knowledge of the functions stated above and is responsible for the daily state of health and operability of the PCA components. The PCA TA supports space vehicles operations from factory integration and test until decommission.
This role will also function as a satellite factory Systems Engineer overseeing mission operation projects that contribute to the day-to-day satellite health and safety, maintenance, and mission operations.
As a Systems Engineer, you will:
• Learn space vehicle and payload operations.
• Be responsible for the daily state of health and operability of the constellation.
• Work closely with and rely on the technical analysts, Certified Principal Engineers (CPE) and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to understand and resolve issues
• Apply what you learned to support satellite day in the life (DITL) testing
• Document operational processes, findings, and resolutions
• Travel when required (Less than 10%)
• Support 24/7 recall for satellite anomalies.
This is an EMERGING PROFESSIONAL (level 2) ROLE where candidates typically require 1+ years of professional experience and a BS degree.

Basic Qualifications
• No clearance required prior to start however the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance is required
• Basic understand/experience of JIRA and Confluence
• Team oriented with willingness to learn
• Familiarity and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime and weekends when necessary to support mission goals
Desired skills
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Team oriented, Detail Oriented, willingness to learn
• Basic understanding on Satellite Operations and Orbits
• Products release management experience
• Commanding On-orbit Satellite experience
• Eager to learn and provide feedback on how to make processes better and more efficient
• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships and trusts with internal team members and customers
• Project management and organization
• Bachelor of Science in engineering, technical, or related discipline
Support all pre-launch readiness rehearsals and launch and early orbit test support
• Develop tools and techniques to perform analysis
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $84,300 - $146,165. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
