In this role, you'll contribute to systems engineering and continuous software sustainment, working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.
About the role: PMAT is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level II to support systems engineering and continuous software sustainment within secure, mission-critical environments. In this role, you'll contribute to architectural oversight, requirements traceability, system integration, operational support, vulnerability management, and technical-debt remediation while supporting live production environments. You'll also work across Linux and Windows enterprise environments, supporting virtualized infrastructure, continuous monitoring, and secure system administration.
Responsibilities:
- Support systems engineering and continuous software sustainment activities using modern Agile methodologies.
- Support architectural oversight, requirements traceability, and system integration within secure environments.
- Provide operational support for live production software and systems.
- Support proactive vulnerability management and technical-debt remediation.
- Support software updates to live production environments while minimizing operational disruption and downtime.
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor Linux and Windows enterprise server environments.
- Support scalable virtualized environments, including VMware vSphere and AWS.
- Maintain DISA STIG compliance in support of cybersecurity and Information Assurance requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated systems engineering and continuous software sustainment experience using modern Agile methodologies. Evidence must encompass architectural oversight, requirements traceability, system integration in a secure environment, operational support, proactive vulnerability management, technical-debt remediation, active use of Scrum/Kanban/SAFe or comparable defense Agile frameworks, and software updates to live production with zero or near-zero downtime and minimal operational disruption.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) in enterprise server administration for both Linux and Windows, including deployment, configuration, and maintenance of scalable virtualized environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, AWS), continuous monitoring, and rigorous DISA STIG compliance supporting cybersecurity/Information Assurance requirements.
- Must satisfy the DoD 8140 Dashboard requirements for "Intermediate Proficiency" for Work Role 451 - System Administrator at time of proposal and maintain eligibility for privileged/administrative system access throughout performance.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, STEM or related; experience in lieu of degree
Citizenship and Clearance requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Top Secret clearance w/SCI eligibility required
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance preferred
Location/Address:
- Within laboratories and vessels, including Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).
Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
