The Systems Infrastructure Engineer will serve as a senior-level systems engineer responsible for the independent analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of complex IT infrastructure across on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid environments. This is an experienced level analyst that work with limited supervision. May lead special teams and project groups; Maintains project lists and updates agreed upon priorities. This position requires off hour work as needed to provide support. Travel between multiple buildings and TCTC locations will be required.
Job Duties:- Systems Engineering and Infrastructure Design- Independently research, design, develop, and implement scalable hardware and software solutions to support enterprise operations and instructional needs. Engineer and maintain complex server systems across Windows Server and Red Hat Linux platforms, including SAN storage, VMware virtualization, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Modify existing systems to improve performance, compatibility, and integration with emerging technologies.
- Cloud and Directory Services Management- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for hybrid infrastructure. Manage and secure Active Directory environments, enforce Group Policy and MDM, and engineer synchronization between on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure cloud services. Analyze system requirements and develop technical specifications and test plans to ensure performance and scalability.
- Security and Compliance- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise vulnerability and patch management processes. Proactively monitor and respond to security threats and ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies. Maintain and test immutable backup systems to meet recovery objectives. Perform post-mortem investigations to identify and resolve inconsistencies in system performance and security.
- Data Center and Systems Monitoring- Maintain and support enterprise data center infrastructure, including blade servers, storage arrays, backup libraries, and load balancers. Implement and manage comprehensive systems monitoring to ensure 99.99% uptime outside of planned maintenance. Develop procedures to ensure operational continuity and compliance with agency standards.
- Technical Support, Documentation, and Leadership- Provide Tier 3/4 support for complex technical issues. Utilize the Service Desk system to manage incidents and service requests, ensuring SLA compliance. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system diagrams, configuration records, and knowledge base articles. Provide senior technical leadership and consult with IT professionals across the organization on system design, performance, and integration.

Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Advance knowledge of information technology. Expert-level technical leadership in the areas of server engineering, virtualization, storage, security, and enterprise systems integration.
