This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As part of a hardworking team of engineers, specialists, and technicians, you will support systems engineering activities for New Glenn's Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA) Systems Engineering team. You will contribute to GS2 upgrade programs, requirements management and verification, system-level trades, vehicle configuration management, and integration with launch operations. Your work will span requirements development and decomposition, verification planning, configuration and data management, risk management, and gated reviews-supporting an integrated approach to systems engineering across the GS2PA element. You will work cross-functionally with design, analysis, and other engineering disciplines across the business to develop and mature integrated technical solutions.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, developing leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads in carrying out systems engineering activities in accordance with Blue Origin standards and practices
- Participate in the development, decomposition, allocation, and traceability of requirements for GS2 upgrades and new capabilities across GS2PA subsystems
- Assist in the development and execution of verification plans and strategies to close requirements at the subsystem and system level
- Support system-level trade studies and analyses to evaluate integrated solutions for new GS2PA capabilities
- Contribute to the development of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation for pre-launch and flight operations
- Support gated reviews at the GS2PA element level and contribute to New Glenn program-level reviews
- Assist in authoring system safety documentation including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECAs)
- Support the definition of operational constraints for the safe handling and operation of GS2PA systems, and collaborate with integrated test and launch operations teams to incorporate those constraints into procedures and flight plans
- Contribute to vehicle configuration management, ensuring accuracy across drawings, interface control documents, and design description documents
- Work cross-functionally with design, structural, thermal, propulsion, avionics, and other analysis teams across the program to support integrated technical solutions and resolve engineering issues
- Support the development of program health metrics and milestone tracking
- Assist with interface definition and coordination between internal and external stakeholders under guidance from senior engineers
