What you will be doing:We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Architect with deep expertise in Global Command and Control System (GCCS) and Joint Planning and Execution Services (JPES) to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) command and control (C2) environments. This role will lead the design, integration, and evolution of distributed, secure, and data-driven architectures supporting joint warfighting capabilities across strategic, operational, and tactical domains.
Key Responsibilities - Architect and design end-to-end C2 systems integrating GCCS, JPES, and related mission applications
- Lead system-of-systems engineering across joint, interagency, and coalition environments
- Define and implement data integration and fusion strategies across DISA and Combatant Command systems
- Develop cloud-enabled and hybrid architectures supporting both enterprise and DDIL (Disconnected, Degraded, Intermittent, Low-bandwidth) environments
- Ensure compliance with DoD Zero Trust Architecture, RMF, and Cross Domain Solution (CDS) requirements
- Translate operational requirements into scalable technical architectures and design artifacts (OV-1, SV-1, SV-6, etc.)
- Provide technical leadership in DevSecOps environments (e.g., Platform One, Kubernetes-based ecosystems)
- Support AI/ML-enabled data analytics integration into C2 workflows and decision support tools
- Interface with stakeholders across DISA, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Service Components
- Lead technical reviews, architecture boards, and design decision processes
Position Requirements Minimum Requirements: Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in DoD systems engineering or architecture roles
- Demonstrated experience with:
- GCCS (GCCS-J, GCCS-M, or GCCS-A) architectures and data flows
- JPES / JOPES modernization efforts
- C2 systems integration within Combatant Commands or Joint environments
- Strong understanding of:
- DoDAF framework and architecture artifacts
- DISA infrastructure and enterprise services
- Zero Trust, RMF, and cybersecurity architectures
- Experience designing systems in cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and hybrid environments
- Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and multi-level security (MLS) architectures
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred)
Knowledge/Skills:
- AWS/Azure AI/ML Specialty
- Security+ / CISSP (DoD 8570/8140 compliant)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DISA programs (e.g., GSM-O, GCCS-J modernization, JADC2 initiatives)
- Knowledge of Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) and execution workflows
- Experience with data fabrics, APIs, and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration in DoD decision-support systems
- Certifications:
- INCOSE CSEP / ESEP
- AWS/Azure Architect certifications
- DoD 8570/8140 (Security+, CISSP, etc.)

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary would be required.
