Job Description:

The Systems Analyst serves as the subject matter expert who will work with a broad array of stakeholders to implement and maintain a firm-wide metadata management system (data catalog), which consists of business glossaries, data dictionaries, policy repositories, and workflows to maintain the firm's valuable data. They will ensure that the data catalog enables end users to quickly find and understand data assets. The Systems Analyst will train and mentor data stewards so they can effectively maintain and promote the data within their department or practice group. As part of their daily function, the Systems Analyst will curate and maintain data descriptions and associated policies to ensure that the data catalog accurately and effectively represents the firm's key data assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
  • Configure the firm-wide metadata management system (Collibra) to accurately represent the firm's critical data assets and supporting policies.
  • Implement and administer a metadata management system to operationalize firm-wide data governance.
  • Build and curate organizationally accepted and effective business glossaries and data dictionaries.
  • Design and implement operating, asset, and metamodels in Collibra while ensuring usability and understandability of the system to a non-technical audience.
  • Construct and implement workflows, reference data, and data lineage harvesting.
  • Create and curate asset types, domain types, attributes, and relations to accurately describe priority data.
  • Validate completeness of data lineage between the system of record and point of consumption for key data.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into Collibra designs.
  • Assess, recommend, and implement capabilities related to business and technical metadata, data lineage, data profiling, and data quality improvement efforts and issue/request management in Collibra.
  • Design automated and bulk metadata uploads.
  • Build dashboards within Collibra that enable stakeholders to quickly find and understand data.
  • Provide thought leadership, frameworks, best practices, and subject matter expertise in Collibra to deliver effective data solutions to the firm.
  • Develop and deliver training and collateral, including tip sheets, documentation, specifications, guides, etc.
  • Maintain necessary processes, controls, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity within the catalog .


SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience building enterprise data governance solutions.
  • Experience gathering and translating business requirements and translating into technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of data cataloging processes and principles, with the ability to effectively communicate and advocate those ideas to others.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in authoring, editing, and presenting technical documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with competence in interfacing with business users.
  • Ability to summarize and present design alternatives.
  • Significant experience and adept in gathering data requirements and building agreed-upon business definitions and vocabularies.
  • Ability to explain the value of Collibra and data governance to both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex environments and distill concepts and present these to clients.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.


SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED
  • Working knowledge of data processing technologies and patterns, such as using SQL Server Integration Services to perform Extract, Transform, and Load processes.
  • Working knowledge of data visualization platforms, such as Power BI and Tableau.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Collibra Ranger or Solution Architect certification required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in metadata management roles required.
  • 3 years of experience working with Collibra required.
  • Bachelor's degree in any field required.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance and data management concepts, approaches, and tools and the role of data governance in the successful implementation of data strategy.


This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan starting at 20 days annually, personal medical and parental leave, up to 10 paid holidays, and family care benefits. The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Washington, D.C., compensation range: $124,420 to $195,880 annually
