Position Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, monitoring, and improving Red River's hybrid infrastructure environment. This role supports core business systems and technology platforms including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Nutanix, Azure, AWS, backup and disaster recovery systems, and endpoint management solutions.

The Systems Administrator serves as a technical resource for infrastructure operations, participates in system implementation and improvement efforts, maintains operational procedures, and acts as an escalation point for complex technical issues. This position works closely with other engineers, security personnel, service desk staff, and business stakeholders to ensure the availability, security, performance, and compliance of enterprise systems. This role is expected to work within established IT service management practices, including incident management, change management, problem management, request fulfillment, and related operational processes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Nutanix, Azure, AWS, and related hybrid infrastructure platforms.
  • Monitor system health, availability, utilization, and performance; participate in capacity planning and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Support backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities, including backup validation and recovery testing.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, system hardening standards, vulnerability remediation activities, and compliance/audit support processes.
  • Support endpoint and identity management technologies, including Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, access controls, endpoint compliance, and related security platforms.
  • Serve as a Tier II/III escalation resource for complex infrastructure, cloud, Microsoft 365, identity, and endpoint-related issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve technical standards, operational procedures, administrative documentation, and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with infrastructure automation, scripting, workflow improvement, and evaluation of new technologies that improve consistency, security, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, service desk, and business teams on infrastructure initiatives, incident response, maintenance activities, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in IT service management processes, including incident response, change requests, problem investigation, service requests, maintenance coordination, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, after-hours support, and on-call rotations as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience administering enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Experience supporting virtualization platforms, preferably Nutanix, and cloud environments such as Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, endpoint management, and business continuity processes.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN technologies, VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Nutanix, Microsoft, AWS, or other relevant infrastructure/cloud certifications.
  • Experience supporting security and compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, vulnerability management, or endpoint security tools.
  • Experience in hybrid environments combining on-premises infrastructure, cloud services, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience working within ITIL-aligned service management processes; ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support as required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to company or customer locations. This position may operate remotely, with travel for training or visits to Red River offices or data center locations as business needs require.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment consistent with normal infrastructure support activities.
