About the Role

System Integration Engineer at 1X Technologies focused on integrating complex robotic systems, sensors, compute, and software into reliable end-to-end solutions. You will own interface definition, bring-up, and troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, networking, and cloud/edge services. Partnering with R&D, manufacturing, and field teams, you will turn prototypes into scalable products through rigorous validation, automation, and clear documentation. This role suits a hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced development and enjoys solving cross-disciplinary integration challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain system architecture, interfaces, and integration plans across hardware and software components.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and compute modules into robotic platforms.
  • Develop and execute bring-up procedures, test plans, and validation protocols for new builds.
  • Diagnose complex issues spanning electronics, firmware, OS, networking, and application layers.
  • Build integration tooling, scripts, and automated tests to improve reliability and speed.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to resolve interface gaps.
  • Manage configuration, versioning, and traceability of system components and releases.
  • Support manufacturing and field deployments with build instructions and troubleshooting guides.
  • Analyze performance logs and telemetry; propose improvements for stability and safety.
  • Document designs, integration results, and best practices; contribute to continuous improvement.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in systems integration for robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, or complex electromechanical products.
  • Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and software tools.
  • Experience with Linux, shell scripting, and at least one language (Python/C++).
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, buses and protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, time sync, and distributed systems concepts.
  • Ability to write clear interface specs, test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with CI/CD or automated testing frameworks for hardware/software integration.
  • Comfort working with version control (Git) and issue tracking in an agile environment.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-moving R&D setting.
