Job Summary:

The Server Product Team at Supermicro is seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to lead the technical development and validation of in-house server platforms. This role requires a self-driven engineer with strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with server hardware and system-level validation. The System Engineer will act as a subject matter expert (SME), supporting Product Management and Engineering teams in system architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment for data center and enterprise customers. Deep knowledge of server hardware architecture-including CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU, PCIe, SATA, and SAS protocols-is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Partner with Product Managers to define system specifications, configurations, and feature requirements
  • Lead and support the full system development lifecycle from concept and design through launch, production, and end-of-life (EOL)
  • Ensure all system deliverables meet quality, schedule, and performance targets
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Component Management, and Lab teams to drive cohesive system development
  • Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams to efficiently resolve system-level issues
  • Support system bring-up, assembly, validation, and testing activities in the lab
  • Perform system assembly and integration of key components including CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU, and drives
  • Conduct system-level root cause analysis to identify and isolate hardware, firmware, and integration issues
  • Define and implement short-term and long-term corrective actions in collaboration with R&D teams
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing and production teams to support pilot runs, production ramp, and ongoing quality improvements


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with 1-2 year(s) of equivalent experience
  • Proven hands-on experience with strong attention to detail, patience, and a careful, methodical work style.
  • Basic understanding of server/computer architecture and hardware, including:
  • CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU
  • PCIe, SATA, SAS protocols
  • OS-level concepts and system integration
  • Experience with system configuration, validation, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance benchmarking
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools for system assembly and hardware installation
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset


Salary Range

$84,000 - $95,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
