SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
AUBURN HILLS, MI


As a member of the Quality team, the Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of the organization and the customer. The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the application, sustaining, improving, and auditing of Lear Internal Quality Operating System, IATF, and/or customer-identified Quality System requirement at the location.

Responsibilities

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:
  • Have a clear understanding of the Quality Hold process, including the SAP process.
  • Participating in and supporting the daily Marketplace meetings, reporting out must include current sorts, new quality alerts and any open SPPS's.
  • Provide mass email for GM requested replacements seat, ensure IT is clearly aware of the request and urgency. Send mass email to Team with pictures and the following details and delivery.
  • PN, Seat Type, CSN Replacing, Original BSN, BSN Pulled / Built, Reason: and Customer:
  • Communicate all customer complaints and supplier concerns to Team Members and Staff using email and phone if it's a critical concern.
  • Complete a Quality Alert for ALL customer written complaints and supplier defects, including SQTS alerts from other plants that can impact Lear Orion. Capture acknowledgment signatures from Quality Team from the lines responsible to ensure timely response.
  • Support in identifying and initiating containment for all non-conforming products and coordinating all internal and external sort activities. Such as but not limited to certifying material at the line.
  • Contacting supplier for all containment actions.
  • Setup 3rd party containment as needed.
  • Lead and complete 1 continuous improvement Kaizen project per year, focused on reducing IPPM'S, Scrap, Supplier IPPM'S or COPQ.
  • Maintain document control for the plant.
  • Use SQTS for written complaints back to suppliers with QN and close QN's in a timely manner. File signed off QN acknowledgements in Quality drive.
  • Work with suppliers on shipping non-conforming material back to supplier after requesting and receiving RMA number.
  • Complete SAP data entry for returns to suppliers, document in chargebacks matrix.
  • Maintain SQTS QN status report.
  • Enter customer SPPS'S into LQTS and manage a timely closure of PR.
  • Keep supplier contact book and matrix in Quality drive updated.
  • Keep plant sort activity matrix updated.
  • Daily non-conforming material review and sign off in Quality Hold.
  • Complete the 7 Quality Modules.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Thoroughly evaluate and log all customer return seats, determine root cause, corrective action, containment (including risk) while working with a cross functional Team
  • Coordinate customer issues to ensure complete follow-through for containment, floor communication and action to ensure timely response per GM requirements, including validating and verifying corrective actions
  • Essure segregation of all customers returned seats and after investigation, tear down seats and assure proper disposition of parts

  • Support MOS and WOS, reporting Supplier QN'S
  • Provide and report all customer & supplier chargeback to Flint Finance Team
  • Develop and post Quality Alerts for all customer reported issues
  • Support and develop and post Quality Alerts for all issues as needed
  • Perform internal IATF audit per annual schedule
    • Warranty- Data to be communicated Lear Orion Plant as received from Lear Corp. for all product lines
      • Post data in Customer Focus Action Center (Market Place)
    • Support and perform Poke Yoke Audits as needed
    • Support and fill in for Quality Coach as needed for all shifts
    • Support and attend Weekly Bump chart calls with other PPAP Coordinators, Program Managers & BOM Manager
      • Support supplier and customer breakpoints with latest information
      • Support and review upcoming changes and provide update for completed changes to Program Manager
      • Support and track ECN's and EWO's as needed
      • Support SUV and PU supplier PPAP approvals and maintain required supporting documentation
      • Have knowledge of GM customer specific requirements relative to product, process, expectations for quality related items
      • Communicate as needed with customer quality organization to keep the customer view of quality performance up to date
      • Coordinate necessary sorting activities on-site (Customer plants) in cooperation with the plant manufacturing quality team
      • Support IATF Internal Intertek Audits
      • Responsible for all supplier related issues reported by the customer, use SQTS for writing and tracking QN'S


Experience Requirements

Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and efficiencies, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, safety, quality, operations, and materials as needed to oversee and direct employees in these functions.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-in-time, and self-directed teams as needed to effectively implement these strategies.
  • Knowledge of Lear's organizational rules, regulations, procedures, and practices as needed to oversee processes and human resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations for environmental control and other regulatory authorities as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Experience in Management Systems
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and track due dates to ensure timely closures or on-time submissions
  • Strong auditing skill set with 3+ years' experience in internal audits
  • Ability to interpret customer standards for various requirements for audit compliance
  • Competent in quality tools, and process/production control methods such as:
  • APQP, FMEA, Control Plans
  • AIAG Core tools - Control Plans, MSA, PPAP, SPC, Capability Studies
  • GD&T
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology:
  • Is-Is Not, Fishbone diagram, Brainstorming, Affinity Diagrams, Three-legged 5 Why
