Supplier Quality Engineer IIRole OverviewThe Supplier Quality Engineer II is responsible for managing, developing, and reporting on supplier quality systems and processes in support of ISO 9001:2015 requirements, supplier qualifications, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role supports Mitsubishi Power Americas Power Generation business units with a primary focus on service and parts operations.
Key Responsibilities- Apply QA/QC principles and inspection methods to ensure product and service conformance.
- Lead and support supplier development initiatives and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Provide ongoing support to supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance objectives.
- Lead root cause and corrective action activities and drive closure of supplier issues.
- Conduct supplier process and product assessments to evaluate quality and capability.
- Identify and support supplier training and development needs.
- Monitor supplier qualification and certification activities and communicate status updates.
- Review and approve sample submissions and production verification documentation.
- Drive supplier process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Collect and analyze quality data, trends, and SPC information to improve performance.
- Review inspection and test plans to ensure adequate witness and hold points.
- Develop quality procedures and specifications supporting the Quality Management System.
- Support management of NCR, CAR, and PAR systems and closure activities.
- Partner with Gas Turbine Service Engineering on requirements reviews and nonconformance dispositions.
- Develop metrics and reporting supporting supplier quality performance.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree required; Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, service, or supplier quality environments.
- Knowledge of ISO9000, TS-16949, QS-9000, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC methodologies.
- Supplier Quality experience preferred.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and part requirement interpretation.
- Experience with manufacturing and repair measurement techniques.
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including welding, preferred.
- Experience with gas turbine and steam turbine products preferred.
- Certification as Certified Quality Engineer or Lead Certified Quality Auditor required within one year of employment.
