Job Summary

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Services Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of all electrical maintenance activities across a diverse portfolio of municipal facilities. This role provides direct leadership to a team of non-union City Electricians and Electrical Services Contract Administrators responsible for multiple specialized electrical contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Electrical Services Supervisor ensures that all preventative and on-demand maintenance for electrical equipment, such as facility lighting systems, parks pole lighting, power distribution systems, transformers, ATS, generators, motors, and more, is completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (ESA) and other relevant standards. The position plays a key role in maintaining asset reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement in service delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities include:
  • Ensure all electrical systems and work activities comply with regulatory requirements, including ESA and applicable codes.
  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and performance management for a team of City Electricians and Contract Administrators, ensuring effective delivery of electrical maintenance and repair services.
  • Plan, assign, and coordinate daily work activities, including preventative maintenance, demand maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Mentor and support staff development, ensuring appropriate training, certification compliance, and skill progression.
  • Support and monitor the administration of electrical services contracts. Including developing scope of work documentation and participating in procurement processes.
  • Ensure contractor performance meets service level agreements, budget expectations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning, budget development, and lifecycle replacement strategies for electrical assets.
  • Support initiatives to improve CMMS data integrity, asset tracking, and reporting capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other City teams in the Division to support capital projects and operational needs.
  • Ability to prepare reports, technical documentation, and briefing materials for leadership.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Must possess at least one of the following credentials: Electrical Engineer, Electrical Engineering Technologist, Licensed Journeyperson Electrician (309A), or Master Electrician (ME) License.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience supervising or leading a maintenance team of certified Electricians, preferably within institutional, municipal, or large facility environments.
  • Experience managing or overseeing service contracts and external electrical contractors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (ESA) and related regulations.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario driver's license with an acceptable driving record and access to vehicle during work hours.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
