Supervisor, Congestion Hedging!The Supervisor, Congestion Hedging leads a team of engineers and technical professionals responsible for executing SPP's Transmission Congestion Hedging mechanisms within the Integrated Marketplace. This role combines technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and people leadership to ensure the effective administration of the Transmission Congestion Rights (TCR) and Auction Revenue Rights (ARR) processes.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and communication skills, a deep understanding of market operations and regulatory frameworks, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and develop a team responsible for ARR/TCR (congestion hedging) market operations
- Oversee scheduling, execution, and approval of market processes and auctions
- Ensure compliance with SPP OATT, FERC requirements, and internal policies
- Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for team members
- Serve as a subject matter expert and represent SPP in stakeholder and industry forums
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Drive process improvements and support departmental goals
- Manage projects, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with budgeting and monitor departmental expenditures
To be successful in the role we're looking for:- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or other related degree, OR
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, this degree should:
- Be from a university that meets the requirements to sit for the Professional Engineering exam (in Arkansas, that is most typically a degree from an ABET accredited university or a graduate degree from a college that has an ABET accreditation),
- Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field and preferred degree programs are Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- Eight (8) Years of experience in the power system industry
Other Requirements:- Specific understanding of economic dispatch and transmission/generation system operations used in electric utilities/ISOs/RTOs
- Experience in optimization algorithms and economic theory
- Strong inter-personal and team building skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals with diverse interests when resolving problems
Preferred:- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Economics
- Professional Engineer License (PE)
- Experience with Congestion Hedging tools
- Advanced degree in related field of study
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:This position requires minimal travel (0-10%).
