What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
  • Lead daily Quality Gate operations to ensure vehicles, parts, and assemblies meet established quality standards before release to the next process, final disposition, or customer-facing milestone.
  • Supervise inspection flow, defect confirmation, containment activity, vehicle hold management, rework coordination, and release readiness.
  • Set clear daily priorities for team members through start-up meetings, performance reviews, staffing plans, and escalation routines.
  • Monitor quality KPIs, defect trends, audit findings, throughput constraints, open containment actions; initiate countermeasures when targets are not met.
  • Partner with Assembly, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, Launch, Production Control, and other teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, layered process checks, and disciplined follow-up for quality gate issues.
  • Ensure non-conforming vehicles, parts, and assemblies are properly identified, contained, documented, tracked, escalated, and dispositioned according to standards.
  • Maintain quality gate standards, work instructions, inspection criteria, escalation paths, and objective evidence required for audits and customer protection.
  • Coach, train, and develop team members while reinforcing standardized work, safety expectations, quality discipline, and continuous improvement behaviors.
  • Support pre-series, launch, and start-of-production activities by validating quality gate readiness, inspection coverage, staffing plans, containment needs, and escalation routines.
  • Lead improvement activities that reduce defects, repeat issues, rework, waiting time, unnecessary movement, and process variation.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, proactive team culture built on urgency, ownership, collaboration, problem solving, and customer focus.
  • Support any shift, overtime, or schedule adjustments as needed to meet business, production, launch, and quality requirements.

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, quality operations, assembly, inspection, end-of-line, or a related production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience leading, supervising, coaching, or coordinating teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, automotive technology, manufacturing, quality management, or a related field. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong understanding of quality gates, containment, defect verification, rework coordination, non-conforming material controls, audit readiness, and product release standards.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, fishbone analysis, PDCA, layered process checks, or similar continuous improvement tools.
  • Ability to interpret quality standards, work instructions, inspection criteria, escalation requirements, and objective evidence used to support release decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, communicate clearly, and drive accountability in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
