Standard Job DescriptionThe work:As a Principal SPM, you will oversee all cost, schedule, and technical performance aspects of our subcontractors and suppliers for the Louisville, CO site. You will be the lead of the Subcontract Management Team (SMT), ensuring that every facet of subcontract management - from request for proposal (RFP) to delivery - aligns with program objectives. Your leadership will drive the collaboration between Program Managers, Engineering, Subcontract Administrators, Specialties, and your Suppliers to ensure compliant execution within cost and schedule constraints.
Key Responsibilities• Lead the SMT to develop and maintain a consistent business rhythm, ensuring that cost, schedule, and technical objectives are met.
• Oversee the end-to-end subcontracting process, including RFP activities, negotiations, awards, and performance management.
• Ensure subcontractor performance aligns with program specifications, including cost, schedule, quality, and earned value requirements.
• Author, manage and release RFPs exhibits, including Statements of Work (SOWs) and Subcontract Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs)
• Lead programmatic and technical meetings with subcontractors and internal engineering teams, fostering clear communication and accountability.
• Identify, forecast, and resolve issues impacting subcontractor performance, ensuring continuous progress and delivery.
Basic Qualifications• 20+ years experience in electro-optical engineering
• Experience in the development, assembly, integration, test and delivery of electro-optical hardware.
• Able to author a supplier statement of work with minimal guidance.
• Able to work on-site at the Louisville facility roughly once per month
• Must be willing and able to travel to suppliers on short notice. Travel is primarily domestic, but could be international. Travel is expected to be minimal, e.g., for monthly 1-day PMRs-but could surge to 50-75% Mon-Fri if supplier performance falters. As the responsible site SPM, the ability to represent LM on-site at a supplier is required.
• You will need to be a US Citizen and be able to
obtain and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET/SCI SAP with CI Poly clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• MS in electro-optical engineering and advanced understanding in navigating the processes, procedures, and execution of all phases of the program design cycle
• Work is performed without appreciable direction, including ability to assess, interpret cost/schedule/technical data and risks/opportunities as the scope owner or CAM and implement and communicate strategic execution/recovery plans.
• Skill in achieving complex assignments by exercising considerable latitude.
• Experience scaling an engineering concept from prototype to high volume production.
• Able to assess, inspire, and coach the team to make more effective decisions in a cross functional, and accountable, environment.
• Deep system engineering understanding of requirements language, margin, impacts on the prime, and mission assurance
Pay InformationGeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.
- Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $198400.00 - $368400.00
- Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
- Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $178500.00 - $331500.00
- Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
- Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $158700.00 - $294700.00
- Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
- Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $142800.00 - $265200.00
