Full Job Description

Thornton Tomasetti, Inc., seeks Project Engineers - Structure in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida:

  • Assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.

  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.

  • Plan and formulate engineering programs and organize project staff according to project requirements.

  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.

  • Manage other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and draft persons.

  • Direct project staff in preparing contract documents, including drawings and specifications.

  • QAQC Projects.

  • Prepare drawings and details utilizing Revit and AutoCad.

  • Perform site visits and reports during construction administration.

  • Communicate and coordinate workflow with other engineers/offices.

  • Create sketch/clarification during construction administration.

Requires a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of related experience. Requires 2 years of experience with the following: Technical knowledge in the building industry and navigating design and construction documentation; Technical writing; Project management - Managing client expectations, managing project teams internally and externally, and managing project schedules and deliverables; MS Office Suite; Post tension design for the slab system of a structure; ACI-318 design for detailing beams, slab, walls, and columns; Review of RFIs and submittals during the construction phase of a project; Design of the building lateral system to sustain high wind speed from hurricane events; Shallow and deep foundation design to support structures of different heights; Lateral load design for structure using ETabs analysis software; Design of steel bolted connection following AISC requirements. 5% domestic travel required.
