Job Description

About the Role

The Commercial Strategy team within Delivery Commercial Operations helps Commercial and DCO Leadership make faster, better decisions. We define commercial strategy, develop and maintain the commercial growth thesis, diagnose performance, and turn insight into clear strategic recommendations. We translate those recommendations into planning inputs that inform how the organization prioritizes growth, investment, capacity, and coverage.

The Strategy & Planning Associate will own defined commercial strategy workstreams within a broader strategic question, using data and structured problem solving to answer important business questions. This person will work with senior team members and cross-functional partners to diagnose performance, build recommendations, and prepare decision-ready materials for different forums.

This role is designed for a high-potential strategist who can bring structure to a defined problem, execute rigorous analysis, communicate clearly, and progressively take on broader ownership.

What You'll Do
  • Structure defined business questions, clarify hypotheses, and execute analytical workplans with framing guidance from senior members
  • Own defined diagnostic workstreams that identify performance drivers, constraints, and intervention opportunities
  • Translate findings into clear recommendations and practical planning inputs
  • Use SQL and other analytical tools to extract, validate, and interpret data; identify trends, outliers, and root-cause hypotheses
  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative evidence into concise findings, implications, and proposed next steps
  • Own defined components of recommendations, performance reviews, planning inputs, and analyses
  • Partner effectively with Commercial, Sales Planning, Finance, Operations, Product, and regional or LOB teams on clearly scoped work
  • Maintain reusable analyses, assumptions logs, intervention trackers, and documentation with a high standard of accuracy
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, automate repetitive steps, improve synthesis, and create reusable workflows, while verifying outputs and clearly disclosing material use
  • You can expect high pace and high ambiguity in the role, usually solving questions that we are facing for the first time or taking a new lens to others, the speed and bar in the role is high

Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficient SQL skills, including the ability to query, join, transform, and validate business datasets

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in strategy, operations, consulting, or finance
  • Experience with marketplace or platform businesses and exposure to commercial performance questions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into clear business implications
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to manage details, meet commitments, and work effectively across teams
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, and comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with incomplete information
  • Working knowledge of Python, data visualization, experimentation, or process automation
  • AI Expectations: AI fluency is evaluated through operating judgment rather than tool familiarity. Strong candidates use AI to improve speed and quality, disclose material use, verify outputs, protect confidential information, and explain where human judgment changed or overrode the tool's output. The recommendation and its defensibility remain the candidate's responsibility
