The Opportunity:

Global Indirect Procurement at Mattel is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Strategic Sourcing Manager to drive sourcing execution and category management activities across assigned indirect spend categories. Depending on business needs, the role may support one or more categories of areas, including Commercial, Technology, People, or Operations.

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will partner closely with business stakeholders across North America (U.S. and Canada), while supporting regional and global procurement strategies and initiatives. This role will drive cost optimization, supplier performance, risk mitigation, compliance, and value creation through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, category management, and supplier relationship management.

This position will be based at Mattel Headquarters in El Segundo or at another Mattel office location, as determined by business needs.

What Your Impact Will Be:
  • Own and drive category strategies that align with business objectives, procurement priorities, and long-term value creation goals.
  • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives, including business requirements gathering, market analysis, supplier identification, RFx development and execution, commercial negotiations, contract management, and supplier implementation.
  • Deliver measurable cost savings, value creation, risk mitigation, and operational improvements across assigned indirect spend categories.
  • Serve as the primary procurement partner to business stakeholders, proactively identifying sourcing opportunities and influencing decisions through market intelligence, supplier insights, and category expertise.
  • Conduct spend analysis, cost modeling, benchmarking, and financial assessments to support sourcing strategies and business cases.
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing teams and drive alignment among stakeholders to ensure projects are executed successfully and deliver expected business outcomes.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and contractual terms that optimize value while protecting Mattel's interests and mitigating risk.
  • Own supplier performance management, governance, and relationship development to ensure service excellence, innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive implementation of regional and global procurement initiatives, leveraging scale, standardization, and best practices across the organization.
  • Drive adherence to procurement policies, processes, procedures, and governance requirements, ensuring compliance with company standards while promoting continuous improvement, operational excellence, and effective use of procurement systems and tools.
  • Maintain sourcing pipelines, project tracking, savings reporting, and procurement data within Coupa and other procurement systems.
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities for strategic suppliers and identify opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and long-term value creation.


Qualifications

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or related procurement functions.
  • Proven experience leading complex sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations across multiple indirect spend categories.
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing methodologies, category management, supplier management, contract negotiations, and procurement best practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical and financial skills, including spend analysis, cost modeling, benchmarking, and opportunity assessment.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience with Coupa, SAP, or similar procurement and ERP platforms preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment, demonstrating accountability, continuous improvement, and the ability to build strong partnerships and influence stakeholders across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while delivering business results.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and business acumen.
  • Additional language skills and international sourcing experience are a plus.

*The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
