Full Job Description
Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Strategic Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing Vancity's integrated communications strategy across both internal and external audiences. You will provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, support organizational transformation initiatives, manage issues and crisis communications, and ensure consistent, effective messaging across all channels. This role plays a critical part in enhancing employee engagement, protecting and strengthening Vancity's reputation, and advancing strategic business objectives. We are seeking an experienced communications leader who excels at strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, executive advisory work, and managing complex communications initiatives.

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Director, Enterprise Communications. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site regularly to support collaboration, events, and business needs, with flexibility for hybrid work where appropriate.

  • Developing and leading the execution of an integrated communications strategy that supports business goals, transformation initiatives, and brand expression

  • Advising senior leaders on communication approaches for sensitive, complex, and high-profile issues

  • Overseeing internal and external communications programs to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with organizational values

  • Managing proactive media relations, public relations initiatives, and thought leadership opportunities for Vancity and its subsidiaries

  • Leading issues management and crisis communications activities to mitigate reputational risk

  • Supporting strategic stakeholder relations and enterprise brand messaging initiatives

  • Fostering employee engagement through transparent, timely, and effective communication programs

  • Building strategic partnerships across the organization to support business objectives and organizational priorities

  • Identifying project and employee impacts and developing communication plans that support successful change adoption

  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies, campaigns, and initiatives


What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, public relations, employee communications, or a related field

  • Experience developing and executing enterprise communications strategies across internal and external audiences

  • Demonstrated success providing communications counsel and strategic advice to senior executives and leadership teams

  • Strong experience managing media relations, issues management, crisis communications, and reputation management initiatives

  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience leading complex communications programs in large, dynamic organizations

  • Accreditation or certification through IABC, CPRS, or a related professional organization is considered an asset

What You'll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $108,500 to $140,500 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
