Full Job Description
Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Strategic Business Development Specialist in Dallas, TX. This role is pivotal in leading the development and evaluation of strategic initiatives, including identifying growth opportunities, leading the internal and external workflows to implement growth initiatives, developing and maintaining key customer and partner relationships, all with minimal supervision. Utilizes entrepreneurial and critical thinking skills in broad-based economic analysis with the influence of external market factors upon the organization, or for activities related to commercial structuring and internal stakeholder interface. Responsible for the overall quality of professional work within the discipline. Internally considered as a technical advisor. Qualified candidates would portray strong business acumen, have an in-depth understanding of the operational and commercial aspects of the industry, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong analytical capabilities.

Job Duties

  • Develop Business Segment analytical tools and processes that drive clear and consistent metrics, insights, and action.
  • Monitors and develops appropriate professional standards for quality assurance such as procedures and strategies.
  • Sources and executes new business development opportunities through targeted lead generation, development of growth projects, and identification of potential acquisition targets
  • Performs and oversees economic evaluations of a wide array of business opportunities through strategic analysis, market research, and building financial models
  • Leads negotiation and structuring of commercial arrangements of moderate complexity and partners on high-complexity agreements such as potential joint ventures, acquisitions, or divestitures to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Develops and delivers executive-level presentations, reports, and summaries that provide actionable insights and decision recommendations to leadership.
  • Ensures rigorous compliance with regulatory frameworks, including FERC requirements related to rate escalations, tariff structures, and common carrier obligations, safeguarding organizational integrity.
  • Cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships with customers, joint venture partners, industry leaders, and internal stakeholders to enhance market positioning and drive collaborative growth.


Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of eight years of direct experience in a combination of finance, oil/gas market analysis and/or related on-the-job experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of an bachelors in finance, engineering, business administration or related field, are required.

Preferred Education

An MBA or Master's Degree in Finance and a Bachelor's Degree in finance, engineering, business administration or related field.

Required Skills

Excellent reading and writing skills, and proficiency across Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Powerpoint, Word and MS Teams. Ability to effectively communicate with strong verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently and execute plans with excellent attention to detail. Must demonstrate and critical thinking and have a strong sense of ownership in job duties and assigned tasks.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Leads project teams-informal or formal leadership of other professionals.

Work Conditions

Office-based with occasional visits, and with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, and out-of-doors environment (depending upon assignment). Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
