Job Description:

Orbital is seeking a Strategic Account Manager in a REMOTE WORK role to drive growth within the conventional and renewable power generation markets. This position combines technical expertise, client relationship management, and business development leadership to identify opportunities and develop long-term partnerships with utilities, independent power producers, municipalities, and industrial generation owners.

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and growing strategic client relationships within the power generation sector while serving as a trusted technical advisor to plant and corporate leadership. This role will identify, qualify, develop, and capture engineering, asset management, reliability, maintenance, modernization, and capital project opportunities across brownfield generation facilities.

The successful candidate will leverage deep industry knowledge, strong generation relationships, and technical credibility to connect client challenges with Orbital's multidisciplinary engineering and field services capabilities.

This position is ideal for an individual with experience in power generation operations, maintenance, engineering, OEM support, technical consulting, or utility research organizations who is interested in driving commercial growth while remaining closely connected to technical solutions.

Essential Functions:

Business Development & Account Management

  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans for key power generation accounts
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with utility, municipal, cooperative, and independent power producer clients
  • Identify, qualify, and capture engineering, maintenance, reliability, asset integrity, and capital project opportunities
  • Lead opportunity development from initial client engagement through project award
  • Collaborate with Orbital operations and technical leaders to build capture strategies and win plans
  • Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline and support forecasting activities
  • Represent Orbital at industry conferences, user groups, technical forums, and trade associations


Client Advisory & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to plant managers, fleet managers, engineering managers, and generation executives
  • Understand client operational, maintenance, reliability, compliance, and capital investment challenges
  • Facilitate technical discussions to identify opportunities for performance improvement and risk reduction
  • Translate client needs into engineering and technical service solutions
  • Support development of long-term asset management and capital planning programs


Market Development

  • Expand Orbital's presence within:
    • Combined-cycle facilities
    • Simple-cycle peaking facilities
    • Gas turbine fleets
    • Fossil generation stations
    • Industrial cogeneration facilities
    • Municipal generation systems
    • Renewable generation support infrastructure
  • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies impacting generation asset owners
  • Identify new service offerings and strategic growth opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within power generation, energy services, OEM support, or engineering consulting
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with power plant owners and operators
  • Strong understanding of generation asset lifecycle management and maintenance practices
  • Ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders
  • Proven presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Location Note:

This is a remote position. Compensation is based on market data and internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's location.

Salary Range:

$175,000 - $225,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location) annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
