Job Description:

PayPal Data Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of PayPal, Inc., seeks Staff Software Engineer in Austin, TX.

Job Duties: Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs by collaborating with Technical Leads and Product Managers. Develop innovative software product solutions that meet market needs in terms of functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business-unit leadership to develop project specifications and solutions. Work with a dynamic team of engineers to define projects and release scope. Design and write code with a focus on identifying and troubleshooting bottlenecks and related functionality issues before implementation. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test technical solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Conduct high scale critical systems cutovers with minimum downtime/impact. Migration from on-prem system to cloud providers. Mentor junior engineers through formal and informal discussions, code reviews, design reviews, technical presentations, and testing. Work to build a hybrid Java/Golang stack and support the infrastructure/framework team. Partial Telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus four years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience with at least three of the following backend development languages: Java, Golang, Python, or C++ (3 years);

2. Experience with at least one high-performance distributed NOSQL data stores: Aerospike or Redis (3 years);

3. Experience with Web front-end technologies, client-side frameworks: NodeJS, React, or Angular (2 years);

4. Experience with SQL Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB (2 years);

5. Experience building and deploying application with Cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) (3 years);

6. Experience conducting high-scale critical systems cutovers with 0 downtime/minimal impact (2 years);

7. Architecture and Development of high-performance, low latency distributed data store with Juno DB (2 years);

8. Architecture deployment of distributed systems, ensuring redundancy and high availability at Scale (3 years);

9. Experience with industry standard OTEL based monitoring systems: Datadog and Splunk (2 years);

10. Experience in FinTech Infrastructure deployments and operations. (3 years);

11. Experience with Service-oriented architecture frameworks: Kraken or Spring Boot (3 years);

12. Experience with Deployment frameworks, including Kubernetes. (2 years).

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

Austin, TX | Salary: $167,149.00-273,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
