Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Resource Development Engineer collaborates with all other disciplines (e.g., geologists, landmen, and production engineers) to optimize resource development on Continental’s Permian Basin assets. This role involves performance analysis, strategic planning, A&D evaluation, and reservoir characterization to maximize economic value and recovery.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts decline curve analysis to generate short and long-term production forecasts to support budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
  • Designs and optimizes well spacing, completions strategies, and field development plans to enhance recovery, maximize economics, and minimize costs.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on potential acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Develops and maintains type curves and economic analyses for various AOIs.
  • Progresses well approvals from concept through executive approval. Communicates trade-offs clearly.
  • Collaborates with the Well Performance team to incorporate reservoir simulations, PVT, RTA, and other diagnostic tools into asset level reservoir characterization.
  • Continually progresses the asset’s reserves strategy throughout the year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer and data analysis skills.
  • Good working knowledge of industry economic software including ARIES.
  • Ability to use production curve analysis (Arps) to forecast reserve recoveries from reservoirs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in ARIES software and economic analysis.
  • Proficient in Spotfire and other data visualization/analysis tools.
  • Experience with Unconventional Permian Basin assets.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
