Join Our Team as a Staff Mechanical Engineer at Epiroc!

The Staff Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. The Mechanical Engineer develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. The Mechanical Engineer uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. The Mechanical Engineer conducts analysis and tests to determine root cause of failures in prototypes or products

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop products by studying customer requirements and researching different solutions.
  • Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Use computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
  • Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
  • Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and provide purchasing department with specifications for ordering electrical components and assemblies.
  • Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
  • Handles product change requests by modifying current product design and completing the product change notice.
  • Perform other assignments as instructed by their manager.
  • Develops estimates for assigned scope of work and is accountable for ensuring the team stays within scope.
  • Supports the business development process through input to proposals, meetings, and presenting to prospective customers, etc.
  • Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.


Knowledge/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience in 3D modeling needed with Creo and Teamcenter experience preferred
  • Hydraulic and electrical experience preferred
  • Epiroc Drilling Solutions product knowledge preferred

Required Physical Effort

There will be some travel to mines, supplier locations, etc. which may include overseas travel. Will need to be available work with the shop personnel during assembly and testing of the rigs.
