What You'll Do- Define and evolve the long-term technical architecture for the Date Team's iOS applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability and exceptional user experiences.
- Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact features across multiple product initiatives while balancing long-term technical health with product velocity.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers and Backend Engineers to shape product strategy, influence roadmap decisions and deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Champion engineering excellence by evolving coding standards, architectural patterns, testing strategies and development best practices across the iOS organisation.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, architectural reviews, pair programming and coaching, helping engineers across multiple teams grow their technical capabilities.
- Drive adoption of modern iOS technologies including Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, structured concurrency and scalable architectural patterns such as MVVM, The Composable Architecture (TCA) or similar. [Suggested]
- Influence platform-wide improvements in application performance, accessibility, localisation, networking and developer experience to create sustainable engineering foundations. [Suggested]
- Embed AI-assisted engineering practices into software development, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, code quality, testing and knowledge sharing while encouraging responsible, transparent and inclusive AI usage.

About You- Typically requires 10+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.
- Extensive experience designing, building and shipping high-quality native iOS applications at scale.
- Deep expertise in Swift, with advanced knowledge of UIKit and significant production experience using SwiftUI.
- Proven experience designing scalable application architectures, including patterns such as MVVM, TCA, VIPER or equivalent architectures supporting large, complex codebases. [Suggested]
- Strong understanding of iOS concurrency, including async/await, Grand Central Dispatch, memory management and performance optimisation.
- Experience building resilient networking layers, integrating RESTful APIs, improving application performance and delivering highly accessible, localised mobile experiences. [Suggested]
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams through architectural leadership, collaboration and mentoring rather than formal people management.
- Comfortable evaluating and adopting AI-powered engineering tools, applying sound judgement to ensure outputs are accurate, secure, inclusive and aligned with engineering best practices while helping others develop AI fluency.

Location- This role is based in Austin, and we ask that you're within a commutable distance to this office, so that you're able to come onsite regularly to collaborate across engineering teams.
