Summary

The Sr. Workers Compensation Claims Analyst leads the administration of Ryerson's workers' compensation claims program and oversees third-party administrators (TPAs). This role develops and executes strategies that drive compliance, cost containment, and program performance. Partnering closely with EHS, HR, Finance, and facility leaders, the analyst supports effective claims management across the organization. This hybrid role requires periodic onsite attendance at our Chicago, IL, Downers Grove, IL, or Coon Rapids, MN office. The ideal candidate must be able to commute to one of these locations as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with insurance providers, adjusters, and internal stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently
  • Review medical reports, legal documentation, and claim data to ensure appropriate benefits are provided
  • Identify fraudulent or suspicious claims and ensure TPAs investigate claims thoroughly
  • Lead initiatives such as the Transitional Work Program and identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness and efficiency
  • Serve as the organizational expert on workers' compensation policies, laws, practices, and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze claim trends, costs, and trends to support risk mitigation strategies
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for management, including cost analysis, claim resolution times, and compliance status
  • Advise leaders on workers' compensation strategy, cost control measures, and risk reduction initiatives
  • Develop and implement process improvements to streamline claim handling and reduce costs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, insurance, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience in workers' compensation claims analysis, insurance, risk management, or a related field; experience with Ohio workers' compensation programs preferred.
  • Proven experience in claims management software and data analysis
  • Experience overseeing third-party claims administrators and working with legal counsel, medical providers, and other business partners
  • Proficiency in Excel, claims management systems, and data visualization tools
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage complex claims and high-stakes workers compensation matters


Salary: $72,691 - $101,864 annually plus bonus. A starting salary higher than $72,691 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
