As a Sr. Manager, People Leader (PL), you will play a pivotal role in leading engineering teams responsible for delivering resilient, scalable, and compliant platform capabilities while shaping the future of money movement experiences at Schwab.

Role Overview

This role provides people leadership, delivery ownership, and strategic direction for a portfolio of Move Money applications and services. The leader will drive execution across multiple agile teams, ensure platform stability and resiliency, and partner closely with product, architecture, and enterprise stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes. The role is critical to maintaining operational excellence, cross-domain coordination, and long-term modernization strategy for Move Money capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery Leadership & Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery for Move Money applications (ACH, wires, journals, bill pay, transfers)
  • Drive execution across multiple scrum teams, ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery
  • Establish operating cadence (planning, PI alignment, OKRs, release governance)
  • Manage dependencies across product, platform, and external partner teams

Platform Stability & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of critical money movement systems
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and resiliency improvements
  • Drive adoption of SLOs/SLIs, monitoring, and failure recovery patterns
  • Champion engineering quality, observability, and release discipline

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of ~10–15 engineers (FTE + vendor mix)
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and career development
  • Build strong engineering culture focused on accountability, ownership, and continuous learning
  • Strengthen leadership bench and succession readiness

Strategy & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Risk, and Operations to align on roadmap and priorities
  • Drive portfolio-level planning across Move Money programs and initiatives
  • Influence strategic investments, modernization roadmap, and AI adoption opportunities
  • Represent engineering in leadership forums and cross-enterprise initiatives

Architecture & Modernization Alignment

  • Support transition to modern, scalable architectures (cloud, APIs, orchestration layers)
  • Enable decoupled, resilient system design aligned with NextGen Move Money platform goals
  • Partner with architects to drive API-first, event-driven, and cloud-native approaches
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements

  • Experience in implementing secure transaction architectures leveraging AuthZ, Step-Up Authentication (SUA), passkeys, and token-based security (JWT/OAuth)

  • Experience in leading end-to-end delivery of crypto and digital asset transfer capabilities, including E2E validation, controlled production rollout, and cross-functional coordination across engineering, product, and risk teams
