Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Analyst within our Global Business Services (GBS). This role will contribute to the success of our global tax function by analyzing complex tax data, supporting compliance, reporting and planning efforts. The role will also be responsible for monitoring and supervising the activities and tasks of junior tax analysts. They will work closely with Supply Chain, Sales, Compliance, AR and AP Departments ensuring accuracy and timeliness in tax-related matters.
Accountabilities
Tax Calculation & Filing
- Prepare and file annual income tax returns in accordance with country-specific regulations.
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly sales tax filings and ensure timely compliance
- Oversee the calculation of deferred taxes and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with relevant standards
Tax Strategy & reconciliation
- Support the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with applicable laws
- Contribute to the consolidation and optimization of Copeland’s overall tax plan to achieve efficiency and compliance
- Contribute to the implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with intercompany netting restrictions as required by organizational policies
Tax payments & Foreign Trade compliance
- Manage the end-to-end process for country-specific tax payments, in close collaboration with AP Department
- Oversee the customs payment process and liaise with customs brokers to ensure compliance with import and export regulations (e.g. Mexico’s Pago Electronico de Comercio Exterior (PECE) or Argentina’s Volante Electronico de Pago)
- Support with the review and registration of supplier-issued documents for compliance (e.g. Mexico’s Complemento de Pago, Constancia de Situacion Fiscal (CSF), Opinion Positiva SAT)
Global Tax Support
- Maintain and update the tax master data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Monitor ongoing tax compliance and remain current with changes in tax regulations
- Address tax-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct verification of pay files for tax-related transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in taxation, finance, accounting, Business Administration or a related field
- 3 – 5 years of relevant experience with tax accounting and general accounting
- Ability to oversee group of tax analysts
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in one of the fields mentioned above
- A CPA or Enrolled Agent designation (or local equivalent)
Technical Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· Familiarity with financial software such as Oracle ERP Suite
· Solid regional accounting knowledge (i.e., US GAAP , IFRS)
· Solid understanding of local/international tax regulations (i.e., IRS and regional tax rules)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret tax regulations and financial data
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
· Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
· Comfortable operating across different geographies, time zones, and regulatory environments
Languages
Fluency in English and proficiency in Spanish, both spoken and written
