Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer in
Atlanta, GA. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Serve as lead supplier quality engineer in charge of all harness families and corresponding suppliers with the goal to re-assess and re-qualify the existing supplier base as well to develop and qualify new suppliers.
- Lead supplier development, supplier risk assessments, and supplier gap analysis in support of new product roadmaps and future business strategies.
- Coordinate scorecards with suppliers, leading and driving actions to ensure continuous improvement aligned with business objectives with a strong focus on the internal and external costumer.
- Lead cost recovery initiatives for internal and external quality issues, managing the end-to-end process to ensure effective and timely reimbursement.
- Deliver supplier quality deliverables in standard product development.
- Present findings and recommendations as part of the business review process. Partner with Sourcing and Engineering to ensure all drawings, specifications, and Critical to Quality (CTQ) metrics are systematically defined, agreed to by internal personnel, and communicated to suppliers for action.
- Qualify products purchased using a Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to establish stable manufacturing within the supply base.
- Lead internal and external teams to improve Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within the supply base. Execute to business units audit strategies which include the development and execution of supplier audits with procurement and with commodity managers.
- Conduct root cause analyses to develop corrective and preventive action plans. Manage the investigation of field failures regarding supplier products and make recommendations for corrective plans.
- Drive issue resolution and continual improvement using corrective action system and supplier systems. Ensure timely response and action to ensure effectiveness of The Eight Disciplines (8D) that addresses root cause and eliminates reoccurrence.
- Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any needs for improvement. Deliver quality training to support effective quality execution in the interest of the company.
- Escalate all issues impacting the timely release and quality of all new product development programs to upper management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field required.
- Five years of experience in supplier quality development required, including any experience with: risk design evaluation; manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics
- Lean Transformation and A3 strategic planning; Business Plan Deployment (BPD) and Hoshin Kanri (Policy Deployment)
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); the QC-Story methodology and MASP tools including 8D; supplier performance; product quality and product lifecycle management; and with procurement strategies.
- Six Sigma certification required. Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
