Reporting to the Superintendent, Reliability, the Senior Supervisor, Reliability E&I is responsible for leading and advancing the site's Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) reliability program to ensure the safe, and reliable operation of all E&I assets. This role provides technical leadership across instrumentation, controls, safety systems, and electrical distribution, driving long-term asset performance through reliability strategies, lifecycle planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a key technical authority, this position shapes the direction of the newly established E&I reliability organization and partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to support overall plant objectives.
This position is located at Nutrien's
Redwater, Alberta site and is not eligible for remote work.
What You'll Do:- Lead E&I Reliability Strategy
- Develop and maintain asset care strategies and lifecycle plans for E&I systems, including instrumentation, PLC/DCS/SCADA, SIS, and electrical distribution
- Identify reliability threats, bad actors, and end-of-life risks, and define mitigation strategies
- Own and Execute Reliability Programs
- Lead root cause analyses (RCAs), failure investigations, and reliability improvement planning
- Establish and sustain condition monitoring programs for E&I assets
- Drive data-based decision making to prioritize reliability work and resources
- Provide Technical Guidance and Support
- Act as the technical authority supporting maintenance execution, troubleshooting, and complex failure resolution
- Set technical standards, best practices, and reliability methodologies for E&I systems
- Champion Continuous Improvement
- Identify, develop, and oversee non-capital improvement initiatives, including Management of Change (MOC) ownership
- Collaborate with unit teams to align reliability initiatives with operational priorities
- Build and Lead Capability
- Mentor and develop engineers, technologists, and contractors within the E&I reliability space
- Foster a strong safety, integrity, and reliability culture across the site
What You'll Bring:- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical or instrumentation technologist
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in an industrial operating plant
- Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, SIS, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, and medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical safety codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Reliability & Asset Management Experience
- Proven experience developing and implementing reliability and asset management programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead RCAs, condition monitoring programs, and long-term reliability planning.
- Safety and Integrity Leadership
- Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to lead and reinforce life-critical procedures and safe work practices.
