Honeywell is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development, delivery, and evolution of its Fire Software portfolio. This role will provide engineering leadership across cloud platforms, mobile applications, connected services, IoT integrations, compliance solutions, monitoring systems, technician productivity solutions, and next-generation AI-enabled offerings supporting the Fire business.

The successful candidate will lead multiple engineering teams and managers, drive technology strategy, and partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Cybersecurity, Program Management, and Business Leadership to deliver innovative, secure, scalable, and reliable solutions for customers worldwide.

This role requires a balance of strong technical depth, organizational leadership, operational excellence, and domain expertise in Fire & Life Safety technologies.

You will report directly to our Sr. Director of Software Engineering and you'll work out of our Duluth, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Leadership
  • Lead and develop multiple high-performing software engineering teams across cloud, platform, mobile, quality engineering, DevOps, and emerging technology domains.
  • Build a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor engineering managers, technical leaders, and senior engineers.
  • Drive talent planning, succession management, hiring, performance development, and team engagement.

Product & Platform Ownership
  • Own engineering execution for strategic Fire Software initiatives and product roadmaps.
  • Deliver scalable SaaS platforms, connected services, monitoring solutions, compliance applications, technician workflows, and customer-facing experiences.
  • Drive product modernization, platform consolidation, and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between product strategy, customer requirements, and engineering execution.

Technical Leadership
  • Establish and drive technology strategy for cloud-based Fire Software platforms.
  • Provide architectural leadership for distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data platforms, mobile applications, and IoT-connected solutions.
  • Champion engineering best practices across software design, code quality, testing, reliability, security, and observability.
  • Drive adoption of AI, analytics, automation, and intelligent operational capabilities across the software portfolio.
  • Lead architectural reviews and technical decision-making for large-scale strategic initiatives.

Delivery Excellence
  • Own release planning, execution, and delivery of complex cross-functional programs.
  • Implement and mature Agile engineering practices across teams.
  • Drive predictable delivery through engineering metrics, dependency management, risk management, and operational rigor.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in engineering velocity, quality, and customer outcomes.

Operational Excellence
  • Drive reliability, availability, scalability, and maintainability of mission-critical software platforms.
  • Partner with SRE, Operations, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure teams to establish robust operating models.
  • Lead incident reviews, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure systems meet business continuity, resilience, and customer service objectives.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with customers, business leaders, field organizations, and partners to understand business needs and technology opportunities.
  • Work closely with Product Management to define future roadmap investments and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent Engineering in executive reviews, business operating reviews, and customer engagements.
  • Build strong partnerships across global engineering, product, and business organizations.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with increasing levels of technical and organizational responsibility.
  • 7+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams and engineering managers.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale SaaS, cloud-native, IoT, or enterprise software platforms.
  • Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices including:
    • Cloud-native architecture
    • Microservices
    • API-first development
    • DevSecOps
    • CI/CD
    • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
    • Agile development methodologies
  • Experience managing globally distributed engineering organizations.

Fire & Life Safety Domain Expertise
  • Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams in the Fire, Life Safety, Building Technologies, or Fire Monitoring industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of UL 864, UL 827, NFPA 72, and related regulatory standards governing fire alarm systems, life-safety services, and monitoring operations.
  • Experience developing or supporting mission-critical software solutions involved in fire alarm monitoring, compliance, life-safety event management, or central station operations.

Central Station & Monitoring Technologies
  • Strong understanding of Central Station monitoring technologies, alarm communication workflows, alarm transmission architectures, and fire event processing systems.
  • Experience with one or more of:
    • Contact ID
    • SIA
    • Sur-Gard
    • Alarm communicator technologies
    • Monitoring receiver platforms
    • Event routing and dispatch systems
    • Fire alarm network architectures

Connected Fire Technologies
  • Experience with:
    • Fire panels
    • Fire alarm devices
    • Gateway technologies
    • Edge connectivity solutions
    • Remote monitoring platforms
    • Connected device ecosystems
    • Cloud-connected life-safety systems

WE VALUE
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration.
