ASME is seeking a strategic and highly organized Senior Program Manager, IP Strategy to serve as the operational and programmatic lead supporting the establishment and execution of ASME's IP Strategy Office. This role will manage strategic initiatives, coordinate cross-functional work, oversee intake and governance processes, and drive disciplined execution of the IP Office operating model. The Senior Program Manager will provide executive-ready reporting, support intellectual property and AI governance activities, and help advance process automation and Knowledge Unit initiatives across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage strategic initiatives established under the IP Strategy Office roadmap, maintaining integrated program plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and decision points across workstreams.
- Coordinate delivery of licensing inventory and assessment, governance framework implementation, AI/SLM response processes, pilot and readiness initiatives, and process automation opportunities.
- Administer centralized intake for licensing inquiries, AI/SLM use requests, derivative-use requests, governance certifications, and enterprise guidance requests.
- Maintain routing logic, escalation pathways, decision-support documentation, engagement triggers, decision trees, and governance workflows.
- Coordinate execution across Legal, Information Technology / DoC, CRO, CX, Standards, Publishing, and Business Units, including working groups, meetings, follow-up actions, dependencies, and commitments.
- Promote adoption of IP governance processes through consistent communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Support enterprise-wide licensing inventory and assessment efforts, maintaining visibility into agreement status, rights classifications, risk assessments, opportunities, and remediation activities.
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards covering governance adoption, licensing inventory progress, AI inquiry volume and disposition, program milestones, KU/MKU implementation progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Prepare executive-ready materials for leadership, board, and advisory audiences, and support governance reporting and strategic communications.
- Support AI governance processes and documentation, identify workflow improvement and automation opportunities, and coordinate alignment with Digital Transformation initiatives.
- Coordinate KU/MKU pilot activities, data collection, baseline development, readiness metrics, reporting, and integration with portfolio and product planning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7-10+ years of experience in program management, business transformation, PMO, governance, operations, or enterprise initiative leadership.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and significant organizational change.
- Executive-facing program management experience supporting strategic planning, executive reporting, dashboard development, governance forums, steering committees, and decision tracking.
- Experience creating and improving intake processes, governance workflows, escalation paths, business operating procedures, performance metrics, and KPIs.
- Experience supporting governance, compliance, risk management, knowledge management, data governance, intellectual property, content operations, publishing, standards development, or related enterprise functions preferred.
- Comfort working with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, project and portfolio management tools, workflow automation tools, dashboarding and reporting, process mapping, and AI-assisted productivity tools.
This role is eligible for a remote work arrangement. Periodic business travel may be required, including but not limited to, ASME offices, globally.
Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $125,000 - $135,000 per year.
