The MissionCBS Sports is the digital stadium for millions of fans. We hold the rights to the biggest moments in sports-NFL, UEFA Champions League, March Madness, the Masters, and UFC. We aren't just a scoreboard; we're a massive content engine of fantasy leagues, live video, and deep journalism. We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to join a small, cross-functional squad that operates with the speed of a startup and the scale of a legacy giant.
The Role: Build and OwnYou won't just work on a product; you'll own the design outcomes from first framing through ship. We believe in a builder culture where designers aren't waiting for handoffs or research gates. You will:
- Own the Project: Take full responsibility for your product squad's design outcomes. You lead the direction from initial concept to the final shipped experience.
- Build Constantly: Prototype early and often. We use AI tools (like Cursor or Claude) to visualize ideas and test interactions before they hit engineering, letting us move faster than ever.
- Lead with Visual Craft: We need designers who bring energy, taste, and dynamic design sensibilities. Whether it's motion that obeys physics or layouts that capture the intensity of game day, your work should set the bar for the squad.
- Shape the Product: You'll trade honest, real-time feedback with engineers and PMs. We don't just "deliver" designs; we shape products in the build.
Core Capabilities- Visual Design: You have a refined eye for type hierarchy, layouts, and intuitive UI/UX. You deliver high-impact, immersive designs for complex app systems that capture the intensity of game day and live sports.
- Motion & Interactivity: You understand motion as a logical system. Your designs feel tactile, precise, and alive.
- Fluency in Native Design: You have deep experience with mobile paradigms (iOS/Android). You know how to leverage native capabilities to elevate the user experience.
- Owner Mindset: You treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate. You use your intuition, analytics, and direct fan feedback to make smart product decisions quickly.
Basic Qualifications- 6+ years of end-to-end product design experience.
- A portfolio showing shipped consumer work on mobile apps or web (required).
- Comfort moving across prototyping, production, and interaction design without handoffs.
Additional Qualifications- Passion for sports, betting, live events, or broadcast media.
- Experience with AI-assisted design or prototyping workflows.
- Contributions to a design system.

CBS Sports Digital's multi-platform offerings include CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports apps for mobile and connected TV devices; the 24/7 streaming sports news network CBS Sports HQ; 247Sports; MaxPreps; CBS Sports fantasy games; and SportsLine.

Hiring Salary Range: $130000.0 - 150000.0.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
