Full Job Description
Senior Oracle SQL Data Analyst
Hybrid

Description:
Diversified Systems is searching for a Senior Oracle SQL Data Analyst to develop, maintain, and support SQL solutions for operational reporting, research, executive decision-making, legislative reporting, and strategic initiatives. Under limited supervision, this position primarily works with large, normalized Oracle transactional databases and is responsible for extracting, validating, analyzing, automating, and maintaining operational data.

This is not a traditional Business Intelligence or Dashboard Development position. Approximately 70-80% of the work involves writing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL directly against transactional databases. Candidates should have experience developing SQL from scratch rather than primarily working with data warehouses, semantic models, or pre-built Business Intelligence datasets.

The candidate must be able to independently analyze business requirements, determine the appropriate database tables and relationships needed to answer complex business questions, and develop SQL solutions from scratch without relying on pre-built analytical tables, semantic models, visual query builders, or AI-generated SQL.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs.
  • Write simple and complex SQL queries from scratch against normalized Oracle transactional databases.
  • Analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate tables, relationships, joins, and business rules needed to answer complex business questions.
  • Extract, validate, transform, and analyze operational data for reporting, research, grants, and executive requests.
  • Develop and maintain automated SQL processes, scheduled database jobs, and recurring data refreshes.
  • Troubleshoot SQL scripts, automated jobs, and data quality issues.
  • Create efficient, reusable, and well-documented SQL code.
  • Support recurring operational reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legislative reporting, and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and communicate analytical findings.
  • Support Tableau dashboards and other data visualization initiatives as needed.

Requirements:
  • 5 years of Oracle SQL development against transactional databases required.
  • 5 years of writing complex SQL (joins, CTEs, subqueries, CASE, aggregate and analytic functions) required.
  • 5 years of normalized relational database design and table relationships required.
  • 3 years of Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, functions, packages, views) highly desired.
  • 3 years of SQL job scheduling and automated database processes required.
  • 5 years of SQL troubleshooting, query optimization, and data validation highly desired.
  • 3 years of translating business requirements into SQL solutions required.
  • 3 years of operational reporting and data analysis required.
  • Tableau or other data visualization software highly desired.
  • Criminal justice or other large transactional database environments highly desired.
