Full Job Description
Title:
Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

KBR is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our Global Database team and ensure the performance, reliability, and security of enterprise database environments supporting critical business operations. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize Oracle Server databases, oversee database backup and recovery processes, and support the development and implementation of database standards across the organization. You will collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to troubleshoot issues, improve system performance, and ensure compliance with IT governance and data management policies. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation and occasional work outside normal business hours to support global operations.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure to ensure system stability, availability, and performance
  • Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of Oracle Server instances, ensuring alignment with enterprise infrastructure standards
  • Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to support business continuity
  • Monitor database performance and system health, proactively identifying and resolving issues related to capacity, performance, and reliability
  • Manage database security, including user access controls, encryption, and audit compliance in accordance with corporate IT policies
  • Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of Oracle Server clustering, replication, and Always On Availability Groups
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and network teams to ensure optimal database performance and system integration
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, including standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and configuration baselines
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and respond to critical incidents affecting database operations
  • Ensure adherence to IT governance, change management, and compliance standards for all database systems
  • Contribute to automation, monitoring, and performance-tuning initiatives to improve database reliability and administrative efficiency


Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in database administration, including the installation, configuration, and management of enterprise-scale Oracle Server environments.
  • Must have in-depth experience working in ORACLE Real Application Cluster (RAC/ASM), RDBMS 12c/18c/19c, DATAGUARD, RMAN on Linux and Windows platform
  • Working experience in ORACLE RAC WebLogic, ORACLE APEX, ORACLE FORMS/REPORTS, ORACLE Enterprise Manager, Linux shell scripting and Perl, Python, Powershell scripting
  • Proven experience in the building, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance of ORACLE RAC databases with ASM and DATAGUARD environments in Linux platforms in a 24x7 environment with minimum downtime.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning and proactive monitoring skills with strong organizational skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and keep management adequately informed


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQ expertise is a big plus


Work Authorization & Location:
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). This position offers flexibility to work remotely from a home office or from any major KBR office location, with a preference for candidates based in or near Houston, Texas.
