About the Role

The Sr. Manager of Reliability Engineering will be based at our test site in San Francisco Bay area, managing test operations across California and Nevada. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an experienced reliability executive who thrives on designing new products for reliability, building new teams and labs from the ground up. This role owns reliability from R&D to mass production, build and scale world-class reliability test and failure analysis labs, and team to design reliable industry-leading power conversion systems, that meet the very high quality and reliability expectations from energy grid and hyperscaler customers. A successful leader for this role will combine deep engineering knowledge, testing operational excellence and team leadership to ensure products perform safely and reliably in critical infrastructure environments, where failure can have significant customer, financial and safety consequences.

What you'll do
  • Define reliability vision and roadmap, build and mentor a top-tier team, and embed reliability principles into design and development.
  • Drive DFMEA and fault-tree analysis, influence architecture decisions, and set supplier reliability standards.
  • Build Amperesand's flagship reliability lab from the ground up. Establish test protocols and systems, partner with accredited labs for certifications.
  • Lead failure analysis, root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and leverage fleet data for predictive health insights.
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, supply chain, quality and service teams to integrate reliability targets and feedback loops throughout development.


What you'll bring
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in Reliability Engineering. Power electronics and medium voltage industries highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • Expertise in accelerated testing, physics-of-failure, and reliability statistics.
  • Hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques and tools.
  • Delivered a high-volume product with field reliability matching demonstrated reliability.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and handling of high-voltage hardware.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; manages competing priorities, hits deadlines, and follows through without losing composure
  • Detail oriented, data-driven decision-maker who leverages metrics, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving to drive outcomes
  • Clear, direct communicator, effective on the shop floor and in front of senior leadership; fluent in multi-cultural, multi-functional team environments
  • Proven ability to build teams and infrastructure for reliability excellence.

Onsite Collaboration Rationale:
Given the highly collaborative and cross-functional nature of hardware, embedded systems, and product development, in-person partnership across engineering and product teams is critical to enabling rapid execution, technical alignment, and successful development outcomes.

This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.

Travel up to 20% of the time to suppliers and customers in the USA and overseas.
