What you'll be doing

This role as Senior Manager on the Personal and Business Banking Controllership team is accountable for the integrity of the financial and management information used for reporting and business analysis.

The Senior Manager, as a member of the Finance Controllership team, is accountable for the integrity of amounts reported in the financial reporting systems, hence this position oversees month-end activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, investigations, review of financial results, insightful variance explanation, and other accounting related activities as required. In this role, you will lead a team of professionals to prepare, review and analyze financial information, fulfill financial reporting deliverables and project initiatives as well as ad hoc requests from stakeholders.

How You'll Succeed

  • Problem Solving - you persist to investigate and understand end to end processes beyond our team in order to identify gaps and recommend solutions that are optimal for the bank.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly close processes - including critical review of journal entries and financial results. Provide proactive communication of variances/issues such to minimize surprises during the GL close process. Ensure accounting is completed timely and accurately.
  • Communication - Strong ability to prepare and present financial information effectively articulating issues/recommendations via your analysis and assessment of financial results and maintain a close working relationship with your business partners and Finance
  • Relationship Management - You have good teamwork, leadership, and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner given team members and stakeholders different backgrounds and experiences. You have strong ability to influence others regardless of level and reporting lines.
  • Ensure Finance-owned SOX controls (including suspense accounts) are effective and performed on regular basis to identify/manage exposure to risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Operational Excellence - Drive continuous improvements that strengthen controls and streamline operational processes that you own and contribute to.


Who You Are

  • You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in a CPA, CFA designation or equivalent with 7+ years of relevant work experience. Professional services firm experience is preferred but not required.
  • You can demonstrate experience in complex financial service organizationsYou haveknowledge in financial and management accounting, proficiency in accounting and desktop applications such as SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functionality for data management It's an asset if you have comprehensive knowledge of personal and business banking product offerings and services, along with their systems and processes.
