Full Job Description
SR. MANAGER, INDIRECT TAX

We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Senior Manager to manage sales and use tax compliance, assist with indirect tax controversy/audit matters, and handle all aspects of tax planning and optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Gather and manipulate data and coordinate with external service providers to prepare sales and use tax and VAT returns across all U.S. states and Canada
  • Manage monthly and year-end general ledger account reconciliation
  • Stay informed with new products and business growth initiatives to provide guidance and ensure compliance and audit defense
  • Resolve tax notices and similar matters
  • Perform tax technical research related to sales and use tax and other indirect tax matters
  • Assist with invoice sales tax reviews and use tax accrual reviews
  • Assist in validating data and proper calculation and collection of sales tax in all states in Vertex and Avalara
  • Work with vendors and internal purchasing teams on sales & use tax matters, including claiming various exemptions or abatements, and looking for savings opportunities
  • Document indirect tax positions, issues, and resolutions
  • Assist with indirect tax audits, refund claims and coordinate responses to various tax authorities
  • Prepare and maintain tax calendar for indirect tax licenses, filings, as well as assist in various administrative matters
  • Validate and manage sales tax exemption certificates

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax or finance
  • 10+ years experience as an indirect tax professional in public accounting or at a large multinational company
  • Experience with MS Excel and tax research tools (i.e. RIA Checkpoint)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with end-to-end sales and use tax compliance
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience
  • Experience working across multiple states
  • Experience working with sales and use tax software (Vertex)
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a high paced, ever-changing environment
  • Familiarity with indirect taxes related to multiple industries (manufacturing, telecom, retail)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time - hybrid and remote work will not be considered
  • Willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
$175,000.00 - $250,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
