What you'll be doing
Workplace Design and Experience shapes the future of work at CIBC by implementing our Global Workplace Experience Strategy and measuring its impact across our premises. As a Senior Manager, Global Design within the Workplace Design & Experience team, you'll oversee all phases of design and construction for workplace and retail projects, ensuring they align with CIBC’s standards, guidelines, and quality expectations. You’ll act as the owner’s representative, making timely decisions on behalf of CIBC, and provide direction to external design consultants to deliver innovative environments. Your role will support the integration of workplace disciplines, technologies, and sustainability initiatives to create spaces that reflect our brand and culture. You'll analyze feedback and data to inform enhancements, develop scalable designs, and communicate strategies to stakeholders, ensuring a consistent and innovative client and workplace experience across our network.

How you'll succeed
- Project Oversight and Quality Assurance – Lead design and construction phases for workplace and retail projects, conducting deficiency reviews to ensure all work meets design intent and quality standards.
- Design Standards Development – Develop, document, and implement design standards and guidelines for use across the organization.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with project managers, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams to deliver projects that meet CIBC’s workplace design strategy.
- Strategic Analysis and Recommendations – Analyze industry trends and workplace strategies, providing recommendations that align with CIBC’s principles and translating strategies into actionable design frameworks.
- Visual Communication and Approvals – Develop visual communications to illustrate complex ideas and gain alignment from stakeholders, ensuring designs reflect our workplace experience goals.
- Continuous Learning and Professional Development – Stay current on industry best practices, technologies, and processes to maintain specialized knowledge and contribute to innovative solutions.
Who you are
- You’re an experienced design leader. You bring at least 10 years of experience in architecture or interior design, with proven expertise leading projects from concept through construction and occupancy.
- You have specialized education. You hold a degree in Architecture (preferred) or Interior Design and possess strong knowledge of construction processes and building codes.
- You’re tech-savvy and detail-oriented. You’re skilled in computer-aided design (ACAD), Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign), 3D modeling (SketchUp), and Microsoft Office.
- You’re a strong communicator. You excel in written, visual, and verbal communication, and have strong presentation skills to share strategies and design ideas with stakeholders.
- You thrive in collaborative environments. You work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders across multiple business units and locations.
- You manage competing priorities. You demonstrate strong time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
