Sr. Maintenance Planner

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:Onsite - Kohler, WI

Opportunity

The primary function of the Sr Maintenance Planner is to improve work output through the scheduling and planning of nonreactive work. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, possess excellent organization skills, hands on experience, communicate effectively and be self-directed.

As part of the position, time in the field and the ability to provide and seek feedback will be essential in furthering maintenance best practices. Having a positive and genuine spirt will maintain a collaborative environment for daily communications with frontline leadership and skilled trades' associates. Applying a drive and passion for continuous improvement are essential to the position. With the ability to lead without authority and produce results.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Evaluate incoming work requests for required information and segregate the work as prescribed
  • Evaluate existing and incoming work volumes and communicate with stake holders to establish priority and use contractors as necessary to meet established priority.
  • Identify work requiring the need for engineering and submit engineering requests as required
  • Maintain a current backlog by identifying aging work and create an action plan for completion.
  • Develop scope of work and limiting conditions through worksite evaluation and consultation with the requester, engineering, management and equipment suppliers.
  • Identify special tools, equipment and required trades.
  • Identify and provide required safety procedures and documents and coordinate as needed.
  • Determine required materials, drawings, and engineered information, initiate procurement using or creating a bill of materials and verify lead time for scheduling function.
  • Provide specifications and special procedures for job plans
  • Complete pre and post job plan review with management team and update accordingly.
  • Estimate labor requirements using simplified maintenance standards, historical standards and experience-based approximations for schedule creation.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with Engineering, Project Managers and Management as required to ensure project success through meeting documentation and the creation of required tasks to drive success.
  • Prepare detailed estimates using simplified maintenance standards, historical standards and experience-based approximations for budgeting purposes.
  • Identify repeatable tasks and archive as a job plan/ task lists for future use.
  • Update work order descriptions and job plans for clear and concise information.
  • Determine job commencement date based on priority, equipment availability, alignment with criticality matrix, maintenance supervision and material lead-time requirements.
  • Arrange availability in accordance with the project timeline through coordination with other planner groups.
  • Prepare a detailed weekly schedule that identifies daily activities, including allowance for emergency work and preapproved vacations.
  • Revise the weekly schedule for major changes in project scope affecting resources and communicate these changes to all effected parties.
  • Coordinate and lead weekly schedule meeting with contractors, operations and maintenance, including negotiation of additional downtime for critical work.
  • Prepare shutdown schedules and at regular intervals review with operations and maintenance supervision.
  • Load level preventive maintenance program
  • Establish sequence and duration of all craft skills, including sub-order requirements, and prepare tentative timeline that coordinates an entire project.
  • Make recommendations for reoccurring equipment issues and capital purchases.
  • Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Self-development through ongoing education and / or work place training.
  • Review metrics and departmental reports to identify and execute improvements in planning.
  • Participate in PM optimization
  • Lead and participate in 5s / BPR events
  • Improve wrench time through routine evaluations of estimated versus actual times and job plans to improve work execution by associates.
  • Participate in the management of the preventive maintenance program including required documentation (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Active participation in daily tiered meetings and staff meetings.
  • Identify obsolescence and communicate risk to stake holders and complete an engineering request.
  • Update bill of materials and submit requests for removal from MRO.
  • Manage equipment documentation program including archiving, updates and removal of documentation for eliminated equipment.
  • Review and update all notifications for data integrity, communicate issues at tiered meetings
  • Maintain a clean organized kitting and staging area for materials by placing materials in bins, completing regular audits and communicating kitted material location on job plans.
  • Provide requested information or submit special reports as required by supervision.
  • Complete other assignments that are consistent with the basic function or as required by supervision.
  • Mentor Junior Planners, Technicians and Team Leaders.


Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree in related field
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings and create simple sketches.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or engineering preferred
  • Maintenance management certificate / Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional preferred
  • Minimum of five years in technical field with hands-on experience
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in a maintenance planning and scheduling function
  • Lean experience / Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Previous experience with CMMS software (SAP experience preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
