Sr Mainframe DeveloperWe're looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer to join a team supporting a critical short-term investment platform. This role will be a mix of day-to-day mainframe development/support and a major modernization effort, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working with legacy technologies while also helping move applications toward newer platforms.
Responsibilities:- Develop and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS in a large enterprise environment.
- Support existing applications and BAU work, including troubleshooting issues, investigating defects, and providing a small amount of production support.
- Work with batch processing and scheduling, including developing and troubleshooting jobs using Control-M and related tools.
- Contribute to a major modernization effort focused on moving applications from COBOL/VSAM/DB2 toward Java, Python, and Oracle.
- Help with application transformation and integration as the team introduces newer development practices and technologies.
- Work closely with developers, product teams, business partners, and globally distributed teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Participate in daily standups and knowledge-sharing while helping document existing systems and processes.
- Explore AI-assisted development tools to improve development efficiency and support modernization efforts.
Experience:- 7+ years of Mainframe Development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS
- Experience with Control-M, MQ Series, and Easytrieve or REXX
- Strong understanding of both batch and online processing
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting enterprise applications
- Previous modernization/transformation experience is required
- Experience with Java, Python, Oracle, APIs, cloud, or hybrid environments is a plus
- Financial services experience is highly preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree required
