Position OverviewThe Sr. Human Resources Manager serves as a direct consultative partner and manages core HR activities/processes for the Global R&D function. This role will serve as a trusted partner and will help implement HR solutions that enable high performing teams, support organizational culture, and improve employee engagement.
The opportunity is uniquely developed to enhance, support and delivery to the business and enable functions for organizational growth. The work will require the ability to lead activities independently while also staying connected with the broader HR teams to ensure business support is aligned with larger strategy for R&D.
Responsibilities
- High level of engagement with leadership and employees of the assigned business function
- Gain understanding of the strategy, goals and initiatives of the function and provide advisement on HR related activities; proactively identify, support and offer solutions to problems
- Establish regular connection points with leadership and all people managers, focusing on high-touch engagement
- Liaise with HR COEs to support business with HR processes, solutions, and implementation of projects/new processes
- Drive high performing culture
Talent Acquisition
- Active involvement with the business functions to support effective selection of talent
- Engage with talent acquisition/recruiters to enable their management of open requisitions
- Conduct interviews and support hiring managers with interviewing skills
- Connect internal talent to open roles as appropriate, managing communication with partners
- Identify needs for and manage programs for interns/co-ops
Talent Development & Capability Building
- Active engagement with leadership to gain detailed understanding talent landscape and partner with talent management colleagues to provide solutions
- Support talent review and succession planning processes by providing guidance to assigned business function leaders
- Identify capability building needs
- Support employees with individual development plans and career guidance; connecting them to talent management initiatives as needed (360s, DACs, learning sessions, etc)
Employee Relations, Engagement & Culture
- Provide guidance for managers on onboarding activities for new hires and develop support process for new hire engagement
- Conduct exit interviews, identify needed interventions with the goal of reducing turnover
- Handle employee complaints, issue resolution, mediation, and investigations; escalate to appropriate collaborators when needed
- Support employee engagement survey administration and coordinate with functions on action planning follow-up
- Employee point of contact for various employment matters such as payroll and benefits; connecting to appropriate CoE resources
- Active involvement as a member of the corporate Culture Champion team; plan and facilitate culture activities for new hires, interventions with teams as needed, and serve as a corporate liaison to the global culture champion team HR Operational Processes
- Guide managers in assigned business functions through HR processes, ensuring their understanding, and providing seamless support
- Complete performance management and compensation planning cycles, providing training, guidance, and facilitation of processes with managers and employees
- Ensure understanding of various HR systems and guide/direct employees and managers through self-service activities
- Identify and implement process improvements with the goal of improving speed of service
- Back-up (of HR Coordinator) for HR data administration; audit and review to ensure data quality
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business, or other related field
- 5-8 years of experience in HR generalist or business partner capacity
- Experience partnering with business leaders across various functions or business units as a strategic partner
- Experience managing HR activities and processes including performance management, talent acquisition, compensation planning, etc
- Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels, including senior leadership
- Foundational knowledge of employment laws and other employment compliance practices
- Ability to balance tasks in a fast-paced environment across broad range of HR domains
- Strong facilitation/presentation skills
- Ability to manage tasks independently while still operating in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Consultative and problem-solving mentality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an HR partner to Corporate functions
- Exposure to global business
- HR certification(s)
