Key job responsibilities
AWS Hardware Engineering is looking for a customer-obsessed, team-driven technology leader to take our engineering of server hardware and software to the next level. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer on the PCIe and Signal Integrity team within the Core Components Organization, you will develop, deploy, qualify, and continuously improve PCIe components with vendors and at our manufacturing sites for current and next-generation servers. Your scope spans firmware readiness reviews, risk assessment, and test and fixture design through NPI test system setup, qualification builds, firmware/software provisioning, validation, Bill of Material and Engineering Change Order review, and test readiness sign-off for volume manufacturing. You will perform PCIe component and subsystem debug and root-cause failure analysis, create runbooks, train technicians and operators, and support recurring certification programs to ensure consistent quality across all sites. You analyze failure data to identify trends and recommend test systems, test processes, and design improvements that strengthen the test-to-design feedback loop. You lead PCIe hardware, firmware, and system yields and throughput improvement campaigns with manufacturing partners, vendors, and design teams, establishing metrics and tracking progress toward targets. You provide DFT recommendations and feedback on test coverage, fault isolation capability, and failure trends to continuously improve test effectiveness at scale.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years' experience in high-volume manufacturing operations, working directly with international Original Design Manufacturers, Contract Manufacturers, and component vendors across global manufacturing networks.
- 6+ years of manufacturing engineering work with server platforms, silicon, PCBA, or complex electromechanical hardware such (eg. PCIe devices and systems).
- 3+ years of end-to-end NPI participation from concept/design through mass production ramp.
- Demonstrated expertise in failure analysis, root-cause investigation, corrective/preventive action (CAPA), and statistical process control (SPC, Cpk, yield, DPMO) including development of test metrics dashboards to drive improvement decisions.
- Hands-on proficiency with lab equipment and strong analytical problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of manufacturing test experience specifically for server, networking, or data center PCBA platforms.
- 6+ years deploying, qualifying, and maintaining complex test systems in high-volume manufacturing environments, including functional tests.
- 6+ years of production ramp, yield management, and throughput optimization, including capacity planning across multiple testers and production locations; proficiency with statistical methods (SPC, Cpk, DPMO) and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to drive improvement at scale.
- Experience qualifying and debugging high-speed interconnects, including PCIe.
- Demonstrated track record driving manufacturing documentation, assembly drawings, BOM ingestion into PLM systems, and validating producibility through DFM/DFA reviews.
