This role supports the Electrification Automation (EA) business by delivering hands-on field expertise for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems. The Senior Field Service Engineer will lead installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities for complex electrical equipment while supporting customers across North America. This is a highly technical, travel-focused role requiring deep protection and control experience in industrial and utility environments.

Field Service Engineer. This position will be based in
Reno, NV.
You'll make a difference by: - Installing, testing, commissioning, and starting up low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment (480V-38kV) at customer sites
- Developing and executing test plans for complex protection and control relay systems, including troubleshooting and system validation
- Performing hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting using relay testing equipment and software tools (e.g., Omicron, Doble, DIGSI, Protection Suite)
- Supporting protection and control systems from multiple manufacturers, including Siemens SIPROTEC, SEL, and GE Multilin
- Developing switching procedures, methods of procedure (MOPs), and providing guidance on electrical safety practices
- Supporting greenfield and brownfield installations, warranty responses, maintenance activities, and retrofit projects across the U.S.
- Documenting work performed, test results, and system conditions through clear technical reporting
Basic Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED required
- 8+ years of experience with the following:
- Low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear
- Protection and control relay commissioning and troubleshooting
- Relay testing equipment and software (e.g., Omicron test sets, Doble 6150, DIGSI, Protection Suite)
- Electrical control circuit troubleshooting and equipment condition assessment
- Field-based commissioning and testing in industrial, utility, or power distribution environments
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% (national travel)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of field service experience commissioning and troubleshooting power distribution systems
- Experience with high-voltage or SF6 gas circuit breakers
- Relevant certifications or safety training (e.g., NICET, NETA, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, MSHA 46/48, TWIC)
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, utility, or data center power projects

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
